I had the day off today. We don’t have any firm vacation plans this year, so I’ve decided to make a few long weekends for myself with a few of my days. I can’t go for long walks right now, but still managed to get out and about today while I was running errands and taking photos. I dropped Dennis off at work and made my way out of the downtown core via the area known as the Downtown East Side. It is not an area we Vancouverites are particularly proud of, it is home to many folks who have mental health and substance abuse issues and have fallen through some of the cracks of the health system. I stopped in the area for an errand, and ended up chatting to a street artist, who saw me taking a photo with Spiderman. (I figured I’d need some photo props for the day out) He was delightful, and painted Spidey into one of his existing paintings. We had a great chat, I took photos, and he gave me the painting. Thank you Edgar. You made my day.
I made my way to Chinatown, because I needed to pick up a couple of things there. That area is always vibrant, colourful and great for street photography.
After that, I took my lunch to Trout Lake and sat in a shady spot for a while. Here are some shots from the area.
Tomorrow, I’ll be checking in from my Mom’s place. Have a great weekend everyone!!!
